Even if you don’t love Oreo’s I feel confident you will love this delicious mix of a thick rich brownie bottom with a creamy cheesecake filling on top. Trust me, I am not a huge fan of Oreo’s and yet I love these dessert bars. This recipe has a perfect balance between cookie, brownie, and cheesecake.If you are craving more intense Oreo flavors you should try my OREO Ice Cream or my Oreo Truffles. Both have delicious flavors that are equally delicious to these OREO Brownies!Jump to:Semi-Homemade – I love how you can transform a box of brownie mix by adding in a homemade New York Style Cheesecake filling.Make Ahead – This dessert is perfect to make ahead since it will need a little bit of time to chill in the refrigerator before you serve.Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.Line a 9 x 9 metal square baking dish with parchment paper. Then spray with non-stick cooking spray.Mix together the brownie mix according to the packaging. Then pour the browning batter into the parchment lined baking pan.In a separate bowl, using a KitchenAid Stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, mix together the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy. Set to the side.PRO TIP: Use metal binder clips to hold the parchment paper back while you are filling the baking dish.Place 12 whole OREO cookies on top of the brownie mix. Then pour the cheesecake filling on top.Then crush 6 OREO cookies and sprinkle on top of the cheesecake filling.Bake for 45 minutes or until cheesecake and brownies are set and edges are slightly golden.Cool on a wire rack until at room temperature and then refrigerate for at least 1-2 hour before serving.What do cheesecake brownies taste like? The base of the bars taste like a rich fudge brownie and on top is creamy cheesecake filling. If you love brownies and cheesecake you will love these cheesecake brownies. How do you soften cream cheese? I like to place an 12 ounce block of cheesecake on the counter an hour prior to making this recipe. If you are not able to wait that long then you can unwrap the cream cheese on a microwave-safe plate and microwave it on high for 15 seconds OR if you have a soften mode on your microwave use that. Can you use different types of cookies with cheesecake brownies? Yes, if you want to switch things up you could use chocolate chip cookies in place of the OREO’s or really any other cookie you might like. Does brownie cheesecake need to be refrigerated? Yes, the cheesecake brownies need to be stored in the refrigerator.
