The article has an interesting narrative that, while agreeing with former President Obama's point about the state of the media, doesn't shy away from showing Obama's own muddied past with the media itself in a cohesive and somewhat cherry-picking way. Though it presents facts, it's impossible to take it at face value and has a strong undertone of judgement.

This is a very fair look at Obama's credibility problem when discussing the record distrust in news media today. The author accurately points out Obama's willingness to use the Espionage Act against journalists while president and how that was a huge threat looming over the heads of any ambitious investigative reporters then and to this day.
